The Canon XF605 UHD 4K HDR Pro Camcorder is the next-generation XF-series camera, offering outstanding mobility, connectivity, and 4K UHD HDR image quality. The XF605 achieves high-speed and high-accuracy focusing thanks to Canon's renowned Dual Pixel CMOS AF, and it is the first XF-series model to include Eye Detection AF, as well as the iTR AF X head detection algorithm, which improves face and head detection for more accurate and stable subject tracking.
The XF605 is equipped with a 4K L-series 15x Optical Zoom lens with three-ring manual control. The XF605 can record 10-bit 4:2:2 4K UHD footage to dual SD cards in XF-AVC (Intra-frame and Long GOP) and MP4 formats for easy post-production and fast delivery. It has a variety of recording modes, including Frame, Interval, Slow and Fast Motion, and up to 120fps in FHD. The XF605 is an ideal tool for news gathering because it includes a new CTM (Content Transfer Mobile) iPhone application that allows proxy footage, audio, and metadata to be exchanged with a newsroom server via phone connection in the field and integrates into newsroom assignment planning software.
Canon's XC Protocol, an IP-based protocol that remotely controls camera settings, is now available in the XF605 for remote control of key camera features. The XC Protocol allows for remote control of the camera's focus, autofocus, iris, shutter, ISO/gain, and other important camera settings. Remote control is enabled by the XC Protocol via IP network-connected devices such as the Canon RC-IP100 controller or other IP-enabled third-party camera controllers.
The XF605 has a Multi-Function Shoe that is compatible with a new XLR microphone adapter (developed by TEAC Corporation) that increases the total number of XLR inputs to four, allowing for a more flexible audio recording workflow. The camera includes Wi-Fi/Ethernet connectivity for Browser Remote, the CTM (Content Transfer Mobile) app, IP streaming, and FTP transfer. The camera is also the first in the XF-series to include USB Video Class, allowing it to be used as a webcam without the need for a third-party HDMI to USB adapter.
