How to Install and Activate DaVinci Resolve Studio (Activation Key Version)

Congratulations! You’ve purchased DaVinci Resolve Studio from Coremicro, one of the world’s most powerful video editing and color grading tools. This guide will help you download, uninstall the free version, install, and activate your software step-by-step.

Before You Begin

• Your DaVinci Resolve Studio activation key (emailed by Coremicro) in the format XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

  
• A compatible computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
• Stable internet connection for activation
• At least 4GB of free disk space

Step 1 — Uninstall DaVinci Resolve Free Version

Before installing DaVinci Resolve Studio, make sure to completely remove any existing DaVinci Resolve Free version from your computer. Keeping the free version may cause activation or startup conflicts.

Windows

1. Open the Control Panel.
2. Go to Programs → Programs and Features.
3. Find DaVinci Resolve in the list, click it, and select Uninstall.
4. Follow the uninstall prompts until the process is complete.

macOS

1. Open your Applications folder.
2. Drag the DaVinci Resolve app to the Trash.
3. Empty the Trash to completely remove the application.

Linux

1. Open a terminal window.
2. Navigate to your DaVinci Resolve installation directory.
3. Run sudo ./uninstall.sh to remove the program.

Tip: After uninstalling, restart your computer before proceeding to the next step.

Step 2 — Download DaVinci Resolve Studio

1. Go to the official Blackmagic Design Support page: https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support
2. Under Latest Downloads, select DaVinci Resolve and Fusion Software for your operating system.
   
3. Click Download Only, fill in the short form, and your download will begin automatically.

Tip: Make sure you download the Studio version, not the free one. The file name should include the word “Studio.”

Step 3 — Install DaVinci Resolve Studio

Windows

1. Extract the downloaded ZIP file.
2. Run DaVinci Resolve Studio Installer.exe.
3. Follow the prompts and click Finish when complete.

macOS

1. Open the .dmg file.
2. Drag DaVinci Resolve Studio to your Applications folder.
3. Launch the app and click Open if prompted by macOS.

Linux

1. Unpack the archive.
2. Run the included .run installer from a terminal with admin privileges.
3. Follow the installation steps.

Note: If the free version is still installed, uninstall it first before continuing the Studio setup to prevent activation issues.

Step 4 — Activate Your License

1. Launch DaVinci Resolve Studio.
2. When prompted, enter your activation key from Coremicro’s email.
   
3. Click Activate.
4. Once confirmed, restart the app if prompted.
