Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K Features
Super 35 12K Sensor
With a 12,288 x 6480 12K Super 35 sensor and 14 stops of dynamic range built into the award-winning URSA Mini body, the Blackmagic Design URSA Mini Pro 12K is a revolution in digital filmmaking. Working with 12K is now a reality thanks to the combination of 80 megapixels per frame, new color science, and the flexibility of Blackmagic RAW. Customers benefit from oversampling from 12K to get the best 8K and 4K images with the subtle skin tones and extraordinary detail of high-end still cameras. Customers can shoot at 60 frames per second in 12K, 110 frames per second in 8K, and up to 220 frames per second in 4K Super 16. The URSA Mini Pro 12K has an interchangeable PL mount, built-in ND filters, dual CFast and UHS-II SD card recorders, a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port, and other features.
The extreme resolution of the URSA Mini Pro 12K goes far beyond that of traditional motion picture films. Customers benefit from the advantages of shooting with films, such as incredible detail, a wide dynamic range, and rich, deep color. Ideal for feature films, episodic television, and immersive, large-format IMAX experiences. Because of the high definition around objects, it is ideal for working with green screen and VFX, such as compositing live-action and CGI. Customers benefit from supersampling at 12K not only because it improves color and resolution over 8K, but also because it eliminates aliasing.
Shoot in 12K
The URSA Mini Pro 12K sensor and Blackmagic RAW were designed to work in tandem to make 12-bit RAW workflows in 12K as simple as possible. As an incredibly efficient next-generation codec, Blackmagic RAW enables customers to shoot 12K and edit on a laptop, a capability that other codecs simply do not provide. Because of the sensor's high resolution, you can reframe shots in post for delivery in 8K and 4K. It's like doing a multi-camera shoot with just one camera. It's also ideal for great-looking vertical and square video. Customers can work in any resolution in post-production instantly, without rendering, thanks to the sensor's advanced design and Blackmagic RAW, while retaining the full sensor's color accuracy.
Blackmagic RAW
Only Blackmagic RAW is capable of producing cinema-quality 12-bit, 80-megapixel images at up to 60 frames per second. Constant quality Q0 and Q5 options, as well as new Q1 and Q3 options, lock the quality level, allowing compression to adapt to the scene's detail. Constant bitrate encoding options 5:1, 8:1, 12:1, and the new 18:1 are intended to provide customers with the best images possible while keeping file size predictable and consistent. Customers can record RAW to two cards at the same time, allowing them to shoot 12K or 8K to either CFast or UHS-II cards at high frame rates. To ensure image consistency on set and in post-production, Blackmagic RAW stores camera metadata, lens data, white balance, digital slate information, and custom LUTs.
Shooting RAW in 12K gives you the most control over detail, exposure, and color in post. Customers benefit from oversampling by receiving extremely sharp 8K images with no harsh edges. Best of all, Blackmagic RAW is designed to speed up 12K post-production, making it as simple to work with as standard HD or Ultra HD files. It is highly optimized, multithreaded, runs on multiple CPU cores, and is GPU accelerated for use with Apple Metal, CUDA, and OpenCL. As a result, customers can always work with their camera RAW files without the need for proxies. Color, keying, compositing, reframing, stabilization, and tracking in 4K or 8K are all possible with Blackmagic RAW 12K images.
Generation 5 Color Science
The new Blackmagic Generation 5 Color Science features a new film curve designed to maximize the massive amount of color data from the new URSA Mini Pro 12K sensor. This provides an even better color response for more pleasing skin tones, as well as the improved rendering of highly saturated colors like neon signs and car tail lights in high contrast scenes. Color and dynamic range data from the sensor are preserved via metadata for use in post-production, and Generation 5 Color Science informs complex Blackmagic RAW image processing. Generation 5 Color Science is compatible with all previously shot Blackmagic RAW files, allowing customers to benefit from the new film curve even with existing work.
Full Resolution at Higher Frame Rates
The URSA Mini Pro 12K is a camera that shoots standard resolutions and frame rates in 4K, 8K, and even insanely detailed 12K. Customers can capture perfect stills and motion shots in a single camera with a massive 80 megapixels per frame at 60 fps in RAW. Customers can shoot at up to 60 frames per second in 12K (12,288 x 6480 17:9). Customers can shoot at 110 frames per second at 8192 x 4320, 140 frames per second at 8192 x 3408, and even window the sensor to Super 16 to capture 4K at an incredible 220 frames per second at 4096 x 2160 DCI. URSA Mini Pro 12K captures with improved motion rendering and flexible frame rate and resolution options, resulting in smoother edges in 8K and 4K even at lower frame rates.
High Band Width Recording
URSA Mini Pro 12K is the ultimate high bandwidth recorder, with three recording options in 12K, which is nearly ten times the resolution of Ultra HD. Customers will benefit from dual built-in CFast and UHS-II SD card recorders, as well as a SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port for recording to fast SATA and NVMe drives. With "Record RAW on 2 Cards" enabled, the URSA Mini Pro 12K can record simultaneously across two cards at speeds of up to 900MB/s to two CFast cards or 500MB/s to two UHS-II SD cards. As a third recording option, the SuperSpeed USB-C expansion port on the back can record to USB-C flash storage at up to 900MB/s, giving customers plenty of options for capturing stunning 12K up to 60p or 8K up to 110p footage.
Interchangeable Lens Mounts
Because different projects necessitate different lenses, the URSA Mini Pro includes an interchangeable lens mount. On the URSA Mini Pro 12K, customers can quickly switch between PL, EF, and F mount lenses, as well as B4 lenses on the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2. Customers can thus use high-quality large PL cinema lenses, EF or F mount photographic lenses, and even B4 broadcast lenses with the URSA Mini Pro, making it compatible with the broadest range of professional lenses possible.
USB-C for Direct Recording
The Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro includes a novel high-speed USB-C Expansion Port. The 4.6K G2 model has USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 and can transfer data at up to 5 Gb/s, while the new 12K model has USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 and can transfer data at a blistering 10 Gb/s. Customers can connect and power external flash disks and SSDs, or they can connect the new URSA Mini Recorder to fast NVMe SSD drives for longer recording times on the URSA Mini Pro 12K. NVMe SSD drives are ideal for shooting 12K in the highest constant quality 12bit Blackmagic RAW in the Q0 setting, as well as for shooting at high frame rates. When the shooting is finished, customers can simply connect the external disk to their computer and begin editing from the same disk, eliminating the need for file copying.
Davinci Resolve license key
The URSA Mini Pro comes with the full version of DaVinci Resolve Studio. Customers receive the most advanced solution available, combining professional editing, color correction, audio post-production, and visual effects in a single software tool. DaVinci Resolve is used to finish more Hollywood feature films than any other solution, so users will receive the best post-production tools available to edit native video from their camera while retaining every bit of quality. Whether users are working on major Hollywood feature films, episodic television, music videos, commercials, or even the latest YouTube shoot, DaVinci Resolve Studio gives customers a completely lossless workflow for native editing, color correction, effects, audio, and delivery.
