The Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens (Canon EF-M) is a portrait-length prime designed for use with Canon EF-M-mount mirrorless cameras. It is part of Sigma's Contemporary series of lenses. The lens is distinguished by its dazzling f/1.4 maximum aperture, which is suitable for working in challenging lighting conditions and also provides enhanced depth of field control for isolating subjects and employing selective focus techniques. The optical design incorporates two aspherical elements and one SLD element, which reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations for improved sharpness and clarity. Additionally, a super multilayer coating has been applied to reduce flare and ghosting in order to increase contrast and color fidelity when working under intense lighting conditions. The optics are complemented by an incremental AF motor that is suitable for both photo and video applications due to its speed, precision, and near-silence.
