Product Overview
The Magewell HDMI 4K Mini Repeater is a compact HDMI signal repeater designed to equalize degraded HDMI signals and extend transmission distance in professional AV, production, presentation, and capture workflows. It supports HDMI 2.0, HDMI and DVI-D signals, 4K × 2K video, HDCP compatibility, and pixel rates up to 594 MHz. The repeater can operate from HDMI power or an external 5V source for installations that need additional signal stability.

HDMI Signal Equalization
The repeater receives and equalizes HDMI signals before passing them to the connected display, capture device, or downstream equipment. This helps compensate for signal degradation caused by longer HDMI cable runs.
Extended HDMI Cable Distance
Magewell specifies support for 4K cable runs up to 10 meters on both the input and output sides. For 2K signals, cable lengths of up to 20 meters are supported on each side when suitable high-quality HDMI cables are used.
HDMI 2.0 and 4K Support
HDMI 2.0 compatibility enables use with modern professional AV and video systems. The repeater supports 3D and 4K × 2K video while remaining compatible with DVI standards.
Helps Repair Degraded HDMI Signals
The signal-conditioning circuitry is designed to help resolve corrupted HDMI transmission that can appear as flashing video, incorrect colors, unstable capture, or unsupported-signal messages caused by signal degradation.
HDMI or External 5V Power
The unit can operate using power available from the HDMI connection or through an external 5V source. Magewell includes a USB-to-5V cable for installations where additional power is required.
DDC Buffer and Status Monitoring
An integrated DDC buffer supports communication across the HDMI signal path, while the onboard LED indicates input and output status for faster installation and troubleshooting.
HDMI Type A Input
A standard HDMI Type A input accepts compatible HDMI and DVI-D source signals for signal conditioning and extended transmission.
HDMI Type A Output
The equalized signal exits through a standard HDMI Type A connection for routing to a display, capture device, switcher, or other compatible HDMI equipment.
HDCP Signal Compatibility
Magewell specifies compatibility with HDCP 1.x and HDCP 2.x as part of the HDMI signal path. The repeater does not remove content protection from protected sources.
Optional External 5V Input
External 5V power can be used when HDMI-supplied power is insufficient for reliable operation. A USB-to-5V cable is included with the repeater.

What does the Magewell HDMI 4K Mini Repeater do?
The repeater receives and equalizes an HDMI signal before retransmitting it through its HDMI output. It is designed to extend practical HDMI cable distance and help improve degraded or unstable signals.
How long can the HDMI cables be when transmitting a 4K signal?
Magewell specifies up to 10 meters or 32 feet of HDMI cable on both the input and output sides for 4K signals. This provides an approximately 20-meter tested signal path with the repeater positioned between the two cable runs.
How long can the HDMI cables be for a 2K signal?
For 2K signals, Magewell specifies up to 20 meters or 65 feet on both the input and output sides. High-quality HDMI cables should be used to achieve the specified maximum transmission distance.
Can the repeater help fix flashing or corrupted HDMI video?
Yes. Magewell designed the unit to receive and equalize degraded HDMI signals and eliminate signal dithering. It can help when long cable transmission results in flashing, incorrect colors, unstable video, or unsupported-signal messages.
Does the Mini Repeater HDMI 4K require external power?
Not necessarily. The repeater can operate from power supplied through the HDMI connection when sufficient power is available. An external 5V source can also be used, and Magewell includes a USB-to-5V cable.
Does the repeater support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP?
Yes. Magewell specifies HDMI 2.0 compatibility along with support for HDCP 1.x and HDCP 2.x signal paths. HDCP compatibility does not remove copy protection or make protected content capturable by a capture device.
What warranty does the Mini Repeater HDMI 4K include?
Magewell currently specifies a one-year limited warranty for the Mini Repeater HDMI 4K. Coremicro can help confirm signal format, cable length, power, and system compatibility before deployment.
