The Decimator 12G-CROSS is a 4K HDMI and 12G-SDI cross converter built for the signal-format problems that appear in real production rooms. Decimator Design combines bidirectional conversion, motion-adaptive scaling, frame-rate conversion, genlock, test generation, and SDI distribution in one fanless box. It fits live events, broadcast workflow troubleshooting, fixed AV installation, and mobile production without requiring a computer for routine setup. One compact converter can replace several single-purpose boxes in the signal chain.
4K HDMI to 12G-SDI Cross Conversion
4K HDMI to 12G-SDI cross conversion lets an HDMI source feed SDI infrastructure while the same unit can convert SDI back to HDMI. HDMI and SDI outputs can be sourced from either input or from the internal scaler. That routing flexibility is useful when a switcher, confidence monitor, recorder, and camera chain do not share the same connection standard.
4K Scaler and Frame Rate Converter
The 4K scaler and frame rate converter works across 351 input formats and 57 scaler output formats, producing 20,007 possible format conversions. It accepts 294 VESA formats through HDMI in addition to broadcast SD, HD, 2K, and 4K signals. Current Decimator firmware uses a motion-adaptive scaling engine with high internal processing precision for demanding conversion paths.
Genlock-Synchronized Video Scaling
Genlock-synchronized video scaling lets the conversion engine reference the SDI input, HDMI input, or external genlock source. The scaler also supports horizontal and vertical image flipping. For live production and sports broadcasting, this gives engineers a compact way to normalize timing and format before a signal reaches the switcher or router.
1x4 12G-SDI Distribution Amplifier
The 1x4 12G-SDI distribution amplifier function sends a single SDI source to four SDI outputs while keeping conversion available in the same chassis. Two SDI connections can operate as active loop-throughs or additional outputs. This can reduce the number of separate throwdown converters and distribution boxes needed on a live event cart or in a fixed install rack.
12G-SDI Test Pattern Generator
The 12G-SDI test pattern generator provides 58 test patterns across professional 12G, 6G, 3G, HD, and SD workflows, with audio test-tone generation available in current firmware. Luma and chroma zone plates help with commissioning and troubleshooting. The onboard LCD and buttons provide direct access without carrying a laptop to the signal path.
HDMI and SDI Audio Pair Routing
HDMI and SDI audio pair routing allows embedded audio pairs to be rearranged for the required output path. That is useful when sources and destinations expect different embedded channel assignments. USB control and firmware updating are also available when deeper configuration is needed away from the front-panel menu.
