What's in the Kit — and Why It Works
Most camera kits are a camera bundled with whatever lens was available. This one is different. The Blackmagic Design URSA Broadcast G2 and the Fujinon LA16x8BRM-XB1A were designed to work together. Fujinon engineered this lens exclusively for the URSA Broadcast platform — the B4 mount mates perfectly, the servo integrates cleanly with the camera's electronic lens control, and the optical performance is matched to the sensor's 4K imaging window.
For a news department, EFP crew, or studio operation that needs to deploy fast, this kit eliminates the procurement puzzle. One SKU, one vendor, one system that's already been validated together. You're not researching lens compatibility at 11pm before a morning shoot.

The Fujinon LA16x8BRM-XB1A — Built for This Camera
The LA16x8BRM-XB1A is not a general-purpose ENG lens that happens to fit a B4 mount. Fujinon engineered it specifically for the URSA Broadcast platform — the optics are matched to the 2/3" sensor, the electronic lens control integrates directly with the camera's built-in system, and the servo unit is designed to work with Blackmagic's optional focus and zoom demands.
The 16x zoom range — 8mm to 128mm — gives you everything from a wide establishing shot to a tight telephoto close-up without changing glass. Par-focal design means the image stays sharp as you zoom, which is non-negotiable for live broadcast work where there's no time for a focus pull mid-shot.
At f/1.9 wide open, this lens gathers serious light — which pairs directly with the URSA G2's low-light sensor capability. Between the camera's 25,600 ISO ceiling and the lens's fast maximum aperture, this kit handles dimly lit environments that would force other systems to add lighting.
Electronic Back Focus — No Shims, No Guesswork
Back focus adjustment on traditional B4 lenses means shimming — a fiddly, time-consuming process that stops production. The Fujinon LA16x8BRM-XB1A eliminates that entirely with a single-button electronic flange back adjustment. You can verify and correct back focus while shooting, without pulling the lens or touching a screwdriver.
For live event and news crews where setup time is compressed, this alone is worth the lens upgrade. The macro function adds close-up capability down to 0.05m beyond the minimum object distance — useful for product shots, tabletop inserts, and detail work that a standard zoom can't reach.
One Kit, Two Workflows — ENG and Studio
The included focus/zoom servo unit makes this kit equally at home on a news camera shoulder as it is on a studio tripod. In ENG mode, the URSA G2's ergonomic layout and the servo's smooth zoom response let a single operator cover the full focal range without a second pair of hands. ENG controls are positioned around the body so you can locate them by feel — critical when you're watching through the viewfinder.
In studio configuration, the optional Blackmagic Design focus and zoom demands connect to the tripod handles for precise operator control from the pan bar. The camera's full remote camera control via SDI means the setup integrates directly into a multi-camera ATEM production switcher workflow without any additional gear.
What This System Delivers Together
The URSA G2 shoots a 4K window from its 6K sensor when paired with a B4 lens — meaning the Fujinon's optical resolution is fully utilized without cropping or pixel binning. You get clean Ultra HD output with 13 stops of dynamic range and generation 5 color science, all captured in ProRes 422 HQ or Blackmagic RAW.
The lens weighs just 1.6kg thanks to its rear-focus mechanism design, keeping the overall rig balanced for handheld operation. Mount this combination and you have a complete, deployment-ready broadcast camera system — not a parts list.
