Description
Product Overview
Matrox Maevex MGX E2 Dual 4K60 Encoder is built for professional AV-over-IP systems that need to move two UHD sources across the network from one encoder. It accepts two HDMI feeds and can encode both at up to 4K60 using H.265 or H.264, while the local HDMI outputs keep the source signals available at the equipment location.
The E2 supports IPMX and Matrox IQ Mode along with RTP/RTSP, SRT, and MPEG2-TS. Dual 1/2.5 GbE interfaces, USB extension, analog audio connections, video scaling, and built-in compositing give broadcast and AV engineers a flexible platform for corporate distribution, control rooms, remote workstations, and other networked video environments.
Highlights

Why It Helps
The E2 is useful when two high-resolution sources need to leave the room without dedicating a separate encoder to each feed. Both HDMI inputs can be encoded at up to 4K60, which gives engineers a cleaner way to build dual-source presentation, monitoring, or control-room links over the existing IP infrastructure.
Local HDMI outputs also keep the workflow practical. Operators can continue using nearby displays while the same material is being delivered across the network. That is especially helpful in rooms where local confidence monitoring still matters even though the main distribution path is IP.
The network side is flexible as well. IPMX and Matrox IQ Mode cover low-latency professional AV transport, while RTP/RTSP, SRT, and MPEG2-TS make the appliance easier to integrate with systems that already use conventional streaming protocols. USB support extends the workflow beyond video by allowing keyboards, mice, and webcams to remain part of a remote setup.
System Characteristics
- Two-channel 4K60 encoding reduces the number of appliances needed for dual-source UHD workflows
- H.265 4:4:4 support preserves detailed color information for desktop, control-room, and visualization applications
- Local HDMI passthrough keeps source monitoring available while content is sent over the network
- Built-in compositing supports PiP and PbP layouts without adding another processor to the signal path
- Multi-protocol transport allows deployment across IPMX, Matrox IQ Mode, RTP/RTSP, SRT, and MPEG2-TS environments
- NMOS discovery and control helps the encoder fit into standards-based professional IP media systems
