Description
Product Overview
Matrox Extio N3208 IP KVM (Transmitter Card) brings a workstation into an Extio 3 IP KVM environment without putting the computer at the operator position. Installed in a compatible host through PCI Express, the card sends display, USB, audio, and control traffic onto a standard Gigabit Ethernet network for point-to-point extension or larger KVM-over-IP systems.
The transmitter card supports two displays at up to 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz or one higher-resolution display at up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz. Two Mini DisplayPort 1.1 inputs handle the video side, while Mini USB 2.0 and the network connection carry the peripheral and KVM workflow into the Extio system.
Highlights
- PCIe IP KVM transmitter – installs directly into a workstation for Extio 3 video and peripheral extension
- Dual-display support – handles 2 x 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz or 1 x 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz
- 2 x Mini DisplayPort 1.1 inputs – accepts workstation display signals directly from the installed card
- Gigabit Ethernet transport – moves KVM signals across standard 1 GbE network infrastructure
- RGB 8:8:8 and YUV 4:4:4 – supports full-color video transport for professional desktop applications
- Flexible IP routing – supports unicast, multicast, and multi-unicast operation

Why It Helps
In a control room or machine-room setup, the workstation does not always belong beside the operator. This transmitter card lets the computer stay in a secure or temperature-controlled equipment area while the keyboard, mouse, displays, USB devices, and audio are extended to the working position over the network.
The dual-display capability is useful for operators who need more screen space without adding another KVM path. Two 1920 × 1200 displays can be carried from the same transmitter, while a single higher-resolution desktop can run at up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz.
Because the Extio platform works over standard IP infrastructure, the deployment can start as a point-to-point link and grow into a switched KVM system. Copper connections can reach 100 meters, while optional fiber extends the physical reach much farther when the workstation and operator position sit in different rooms, floors, or buildings.
System Characteristics
- IP-based KVM extension carries video, USB, audio, and control over standard Gigabit Ethernet
- Multi-display workstation support provides two independent desktop feeds from one transmitter card
- Copper or fiber transport gives engineers flexibility around distance and physical network design
- Standard network-switch compatibility allows Extio systems to scale into larger KVM matrix environments
- IPv4 and IPv6 support helps the card fit into current enterprise and broadcast network infrastructure
- Distributed Extio architecture supports point-to-point, switched KVM-over-IP, and larger multi-user workflows
