Description

Product Overview

Matrox Extio N3208 IP KVM Transmitter Appliance is built for moving a workstation away from the operator without giving up local-style control. It takes display, USB, audio, and RS-232 signals from the source system and places them onto a standard Gigabit Ethernet network for point-to-point extension or a larger Extio 3 KVM-over-IP installation.

The transmitter supports two displays at up to 1920 × 1200 at 60 Hz or one display at up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz. Two DisplayPort 1.1 inputs handle video, while USB 2.0, 3.5 mm analog audio, and RS-232 support the rest of the operator workflow. The network link can run over copper or optional fiber, depending on how far the source needs to sit from the receiver.

Highlights

  • Dual-display IP KVM transmitter – extends video, USB, audio, and control from a remote source system
  • Up to 2560 × 1600 at 60 Hz – supports a higher-resolution single-display desktop
  • 2 x DisplayPort 1.1 inputs – handles dual-display source connections from the workstation
  • Gigabit Ethernet transport – uses standard 1 GbE infrastructure for KVM extension
  • Copper or optional fiber operation – gives engineers flexibility around installation distance
  • Point-to-point or switched KVM – supports direct links as well as larger networked Extio systems

Why It Helps

In a broadcast, post-production, or control-room environment, the source computer often belongs in the machine room rather than under the desk. The N3208 transmitter lets the workstation stay centralized while the operator works remotely through an Extio receiver.

The dual-display support covers the kind of desktop layouts commonly used for monitoring, editing, graphics, and control. Two 1920 × 1200 screens can be carried from one transmitter, or the system can be run as a single 2560 × 1600 display when that better fits the workspace.

The physical link can also be matched to the site. Copper works for shorter runs, while optional fiber extends the reach across larger facilities. Because the Extio platform runs over IP, the same transmitter can be used in a direct point-to-point setup or as part of a wider KVM matrix built around standard network switches.

System Characteristics

  • Remote workstation extension keeps source computers centralized while preserving operator access
  • Dual-display video transport supports multi-screen control and production desktops
  • USB, audio, and RS-232 extension carries more than just video across the KVM path
  • Copper and fiber options let engineers match the connection type to the installation distance
  • Scalable IP routing supports point-to-point, one-to-many, many-to-one, and matrix-style KVM deployments
  • Centralized Extio management supports discovery, configuration, connection management, and monitoring through Extio Central Manager
