Description

Product Overview

Matrox ConvertIP DSS is a compact SDI-to-IP transmitter and receiver built for professional ST 2110 and IPMX environments. One unit can operate on either side of the workflow, converting SDI into IP for transmission or bringing an IP media stream back out as SDI at the destination.

The hardware combines 12G-SDI, dual SFP28 cages, a dedicated RJ45 management interface, genlock, embedded audio, and RS-232 in a fanless chassis. It supports uncompressed ST 2110 transport as well as the included Colibri codec, with an optional JPEG XS license available for ST 2110-22 compressed workflows.

Highlights

  • SDI-to-IP or IP-to-SDI operation – one appliance can be configured as a transmitter or receiver
  • 12G-SDI connectivity – handles 1.5G, 3G, and 12G SDI workflows
  • Dual SFP28 network interfaces – supports 10 GbE and 25 GbE media transport
  • ST 2110 and IPMX ready – built for professional networked media infrastructure
  • Low-latency processing – supports sub-frame video processing with glass-to-glass performance suited to live workflows
  • Fanless design – keeps operation quiet for control rooms, studios, and monitor-mounted installations

Why It Helps

ST 2110 deployments often need a practical bridge between baseband SDI equipment and the IP fabric. ConvertIP DSS handles that handoff in either direction, which means the same hardware can be used at a camera, monitor, rack position, or other edge point without keeping separate transmitter and receiver models on hand.

The dual SFP28 interfaces give the unit enough network bandwidth for professional media transport while also supporting ST 2022-7 redundancy. A separate RJ45 port handles control traffic and PoE+, which keeps management and power options independent from the primary media interfaces.

Video processing is built into the box rather than left to another device in the chain. Scaling, deinterlacing, color-space handling, ANC processing, genlock, and embedded audio support help the unit fit into a working broadcast path instead of acting as a basic media converter.

System Characteristics

  • Bidirectional SDI/IP architecture allows the same appliance to work as a transmitter or receiver
  • ST 2110 media transport supports professional uncompressed networked video and audio workflows
  • Optional ST 2110-22 JPEG XS provides a compressed transport option when bandwidth needs to be reduced
  • ST 2022-7 redundancy gives engineers dual-path protection for higher-availability systems
  • NMOS discovery and routing supports standards-based device registration and control
  • Fanless compact chassis suits quiet production areas, racks, and monitor-mounted applications
