Magewell Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus Module is a hot-swappable 4K HDMI-to-NDI encoder for Magewell Modator systems. It accepts HDMI 2.0 signals up to 4096 × 2160 at 60fps with 4:4:4 8-bit sampling, provides full-resolution HDMI loop-through, and encodes NDI High Bandwidth streams up to 4K60 or 1080p240. Centralized management through the Modator chassis, Web UI, Magewell Control Hub, and HTTP APIs supports broadcast, live production, AV-over-IP, corporate AV, and high-density network video deployments.
4K60 HDMI 2.0 Video Input
HDMI 2.0 input accepts signals up to 4096 × 2160 at 60fps with 4:4:4 8-bit sampling. RGB and YUV BT.601, BT.709, and BT.2020 signals are supported, giving the encoder flexibility with cameras, computers, switchers, and other professional HDMI sources.
Native 4K60 NDI High Bandwidth Encoding
NDI High Bandwidth encoding reaches 4096 × 2160 at 60fps with 4:2:2 8-bit sampling. Unlike the HD-oriented HDMI Plus Module, this 4K model preserves a full 4K60 workflow from HDMI input through network encoding for professional IP production and distribution.
4K60 HDMI Loop-Through Output
HDMI 2.0 loop-through supports the same maximum 4096 × 2160 60fps 4:4:4 8-bit signal as the input. A local monitor or downstream HDMI device can remain connected while the same source is encoded and distributed across the NDI network.
Hot-Swappable Modator Chassis Module
The encoder installs directly into the Magewell Modator 2U chassis through its dedicated module interface. Hot-swappable architecture simplifies expansion and servicing while allowing multiple encoder channels to share centralized rack space, system management, and infrastructure.
1080p240 and Custom NDI Output
High-frame-rate NDI encoding supports up to 1920 × 1080 at 240fps with 4:2:2 8-bit sampling. Output can use the source resolution or a custom resolution, while frame rate can match the input or operate at one-half, one-third, or one-quarter of the source rate.
Control Hub Web UI and HTTP API
Configure and monitor the encoder through the Modator chassis, Web UI, or Magewell Control Hub. HTTP APIs support third-party control integration, while remote access provides real-time device and signal information for centralized engineering and system administration.
HDMI 2.0 Input Loop-Through and Gigabit Ethernet
HDMI 2.0 input and loop-through provide direct connection for professional 4K source equipment and local monitoring. Gigabit Ethernet carries the resulting NDI High Bandwidth stream to the IP network.
USB Type-C provides direct configuration access, while the dedicated rear Modator interface connects the module to the Modator 2U chassis and enables hot-swappable installation within a scalable rack-based system.
