Product Overview
Magewell Pro Capture HDMI is a one-channel HD PCIe capture card for HDMI, Component, Composite, and S-Video sources. HDMI supports embedded audio, while the DB9 breakout adds analog video and stereo audio connectivity for legacy and professional AV equipment. Full 10-bit processing, multi-stream capture, and ultra-low-latency operation make it suitable for streaming, recording, ingest, visualization, and custom integration systems.
HDMI 1.4a Professional Video Capture
The HDMI Type-A input supports HDMI 1.4a and compatible DVI 1.0 signals with input resolutions up to 2048 × 2160. An adaptive HDMI equalizer supports longer cable runs while customizable EDID helps accommodate different computers, cameras, switchers, and presentation sources.
Component Composite and S-Video Capture
A DB9 interface expands the card beyond HDMI with Component, Composite, S-Video, and stereo analog audio through the supplied breakout cable. Composite and S-Video support NTSC, PAL, and SECAM, while Component input uses 12-bit analog-to-digital conversion.
Full 10-Bit Hardware Video Processing
Two onboard processing pipelines provide approximately 180 Mpixels/s of processing bandwidth each. Hardware processing includes cropping, scaling, deinterlacing, aspect-ratio conversion, color-space conversion, frame-rate conversion, color adjustment, and OSD composition.
Ultra-Low-Latency Capture Pipeline
Ultra-low-latency capture is specified at 64 video lines, reducing delay between source input and the capture application. Magewell also provides partial notification through its Capture SDK for workflows where processing responsiveness is important.
Multiple Independent Capture Streams
Unlimited capture streams can be generated from the single input channel. Each stream can use independent cropping, resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, color format, deinterlacing, and color-adjustment settings for different applications running on the same host.
Windows Linux and macOS Compatibility
Native APIs support Windows, Linux, and macOS environments, including DirectShow, DirectKS, V4L2, ALSA, AVCaptureSession, and AudioUnit. Compatible applications include OBS, vMix, VLC, XSplit, Wirecast, VidBlaster, VirtualDub, and other supported capture or streaming software.
HDMI Type-A DB9 and PCIe Gen2 x1
The HDMI Type-A connector handles digital video and embedded audio, while the DB9 interface provides Component, Composite, S-Video, and stereo analog audio through the included breakout.
The card connects to the host workstation through PCIe Gen2 x1. Its low-profile form factor supports compact production systems as well as standard professional capture workstations.

What video sources can Magewell Pro Capture HDMI capture?
It can capture one HDMI, Component, Composite, or S-Video source at a time. HDMI carries compatible embedded audio, while analog sources can use stereo audio through the supplied DB9 breakout.
Does Pro Capture HDMI support embedded HDMI audio?
