Product Overview
The AJA IP25-R is a high-density SMPTE ST 2110 receiver designed to convert uncompressed IP video back into baseband outputs without complicating your monitoring chain. It de-encapsulates ST 2110-20 video, 2110-30 audio, and 2110-40 ANC, then outputs to 4x 12G-SDI plus 2x HDMI 2.0 for confidence monitoring, routing, or local display.
In practice, this is the edge device you drop into a plant that already has its timing and multicast under control. Lock it to PTP, subscribe to the stream, map outputs, and it behaves like infrastructure. That is what you want in a live facility.
Highlights
- ST 2110 receiver: supports ST 2110-10, -20, -21, -30, -40 for video, audio, and ANC
- High-density baseband outputs: 4x 12G-SDI BNC outputs plus 2x HDMI 2.0 outputs
- 10GbE or 25GbE media networking: dual SFP28 cages for 10/25 GigE modules
- Redundancy support: ST 2022-7 for hitless protection switching across redundant networks
- Facility control friendly: NMOS IS-04 / IS-05 compatibility for discovery and connection management
- 4K60 capable: up to 4K DCI 4096x2160p60 with low-latency conversion
Quick Specs & Practical Uses
- Max resolution: up to 4K DCI (4096x2160p60) and UHD (3840x2160p60)
- Outputs: 4x 12G-SDI (BNC) plus 2x HDMI 2.0 for local monitoring
- Network interfaces: dual SFP28 cages for 10/25GbE media networks
- Common deployments: NOC confidence feeds, monitor walls, OB trucks, hybrid control rooms, venue back-of-house
- Why it gets purchased: SDI and HDMI outputs that stay predictable while the core plant migrates to IP
Timing & Redundancy Notes
IP25-R is designed for use in a timing-based plant. If your PTP domain is healthy, the reconstructed outputs behave as if they belong in the same facility, not like a free-running decoder. On redundant networks, ST 2022-7 support is there for hitless stream protection, assuming the network is engineered correctly.
Field note: Most ST 2110 problems are clocking and multicast behavior. This unit is the right tool at the edge, but it still expects clean PTP, correct IGMP, and realistic bandwidth planning.
HDR and Monitoring
IP25-R supports HDR workflows and is designed for monitoring and confidence output in modern pipelines. It is a practical bridge when the core is IP, but displays, routers, and test gear are still baseband.
Connectivity & Control
Media rides on the SFP28 ports. Control is designed to work in facilities that use NMOS, with AJA providing standard configuration tools for setup and verification. Once it is configured, it typically does not need babysitting.
Why It Helps
Hybrid facilities rarely fail because they lack standards. They fail because monitoring becomes inconsistent, edge devices drift, or redundancy is bolted on too late. IP25-R is built to reduce those variables and give you clean, repeatable baseband outputs from a standards-based ST 2110 core.
