The DZOFilm Tango 18-90mm T2.9 S35 Zoom Lens (ARRI PL & Canon EF, Feet) combines cinema-grade optics with the operational flexibility of an ENG-inspired zoom. Its 5× focal range maintains a constant T2.9 maximum aperture from 18mm through 90mm, supporting consistent exposure as framing changes. A 16-blade iris, Super35 coverage, interchangeable ARRI PL and Canon EF mounts, and luminous focus markings in feet suit narrative, documentary, and live-production crews. For powered ENG-style operation, add a compatible MOVCAM servo sold separately.

The DZOFilm Tango DZO-T189029I is the feet / imperial-focus-scale edition of the 18–90mm Super35 cinema zoom. It has a 5× zoom range, a constant T2.9 maximum aperture through T22, a 31.5mm image circle, 24 optical elements in 17 groups, and a 16-blade iris. ARRI PL is the installed lens mount and an interchangeable Canon EF mount is included; only one mount can be fitted at a time. Minimum focus distance is 0.7m / 2ft 3in from the sensor plane. Manual ring rotations are 270° focus, 100° zoom, and approximately 74.1° iris. The front diameter is 114mm, the filter thread is M105, and the approximate lens weight is 3.54kg / 7.8 lb. The lens is parfocal by design with adjustable back focus, but requires proper calibration. It has no built-in stabilization or electronic lens communication, and the optional MOVCAM servo is not included.

🎥

18–90mm Super35 Zoom with 5× Range

Move from an 18mm wide framing position to 90mm medium telephoto without changing lenses. The 31.5mm image circle is designed for Super35 / APS-C capture, not native full-frame coverage. Together with the Tango 65–280mm, the series spans 18–280mm across two separate lenses for wider production flexibility.

⚙️

Constant T2.9 Aperture and 16-Blade Iris

A constant maximum T2.9 aperture stays available from 18mm to 90mm, helping crews maintain exposure through zoom moves. The diaphragm closes to T22, while 16 iris blades produce smooth, rounded out-of-focus highlights. Unlike the Tango 65–280mm telephoto model, this 18–90mm lens does not shift from T2.9 to T4 when zooming.

🔄

Swappable ARRI PL and Canon EF Mounts

An ARRI PL mount is fitted to the lens, and an interchangeable Canon EF mount is supplied for suitably configured cinema cameras. Only one mount is installed at a time. After swapping mounts, verify mechanical engagement, flange-back alignment, clearance, and camera support. The EF option does not turn this manual cine zoom into an electronically controlled EF lens.

🎯

Parfocal Optics with Back-Focus Adjustment

Designed to preserve subject focus through focal-length changes, the Tango includes a back-focus adjustment mechanism for precision matching to the camera. Accurate calibration is essential, particularly after changing mounts. A long 270° manual focus rotation gives focus pullers fine control, while zoom travels through approximately 100°.

🌙

Luminous Imperial Focus Markings

Luminous focus, zoom, and iris marks make control positions easier to see in low-light production environments. The DZO-T189029I version has imperial distance scales in feet on both sides of the lens. Standard 0.8 MOD lens gearing works with appropriate manual follow-focus accessories or separately configured motorized lens-control systems.

🎛️

Optional MOVCAM Servo for ENG-Style Workflows

Focus, iris, and zoom are manually operated on the standalone lens. A compatible separately purchased MOVCAM servo drive can provide motorized control for broadcast, sports, or live-event applications. The MOVCAM servo is sold separately and is not included with this lens. Verify servo model, camera controls, and power requirements before ordering.

The Tango 18–90mm is designed for Super35 / APS-C image capture with a 31.5mm image circle. It is not a native full-frame cinema zoom. When pairing it with a full-frame camera, verify a suitable Super35 crop or windowed recording mode and confirm the active sensor dimensions. The lens is supplied with an ARRI PL mount installed and an interchangeable Canon EF mount for cameras compatible with those mechanical interfaces. Check flange distance, lens clearance, back-focus calibration, lens support, and the camera's mounting requirements; do not assume the supplied EF mount adds electronic lens control. The approximately 3.54kg lens should be supported independently rather than relying on the camera mount alone.

A 24-element, 17-group optical construction is designed for consistent color, low chromatic aberration, and controlled distortion within the Tango family. The constant T2.9 aperture and 16-blade iris suit storytelling that moves between wide and portrait-style focal lengths without changing exposure settings solely because of zoom position. The minimum focus distance is 0.7m / 2ft 3in from the sensor plane, not the front of the lens. Manual focus rotates approximately 270°, zoom 100°, and iris 74.1°. Luminous scales, a 114mm front diameter, M105 filter threads, and 0.8 MOD rings help integrate the lens into professional cine rigs. Test back focus and focus tracking on the actual camera before critical zoom shots.

Narrative and Commercial Cinematography

Move from Wide Frames to Character Details

Use the 18–90mm range for establishing images, character coverage, and close details. Constant T2.9 exposure and the 16-blade iris help preserve a consistent look across zoom moves on a Super35 set.

DZOFilm Manufacturer Support

B&H lists a limited one-year manufacturer warranty for the DZO-T189029I lens. Confirm coverage, eligibility, and regional service terms with Coremicro. Use suitable lens support for the approximately 3.54kg assembly, follow DZOFilm instructions when switching mounts, and verify flange-back adjustment and parfocal focus after installation. The optional MOVCAM servo is a separate purchase, not part of this standalone lens.

Does the DZOFilm Tango 18-90mm maintain constant T2.9 throughout the zoom range?

Yes. The Tango 18–90mm has a constant T2.9 maximum aperture from 18mm to 90mm, with a minimum aperture of T22. Unlike the Tango 65–280mm, it does not change to T4 at longer focal lengths.

Is the DZOFilm Tango 18-90mm a parfocal cinema zoom?

Yes. It is designed to maintain focus during zoom moves when flange-back alignment is properly set. Check and calibrate back focus after a mount change, and verify performance on the camera before filming.

Does the Tango 18-90mm cover full-frame cameras?

It is intended for Super35 / APS-C use and has a 31.5mm image circle, not native full-frame coverage. On full-frame cameras, confirm the availability and active area of a compatible Super35 crop or windowed recording mode.

Are ARRI PL and Canon EF mounts included with this lens?

Yes. The DZO-T189029I is supplied with an ARRI PL mount installed and an interchangeable Canon EF mount. Only one is used at a time; swapping mounts requires correct installation and back-focus checks. The lens does not transmit electronic lens data.

Can the Tango 18-90mm work with an optional MOVCAM servo?

Yes. A compatible separately available MOVCAM servo can provide motorized focus, iris, and zoom control for suitable ENG and broadcast setups. The servo is sold separately and is not included with this standalone lens.

What is the minimum focusing distance of the Tango 18-90mm?

The minimum focus distance is 0.7m, approximately 2ft 3in, measured from the sensor plane rather than the front element. Focus rotation is approximately 270° for fine manual control.

What is the difference between the Tango feet and meter versions?

DZO-T189029I is the feet or imperial-scale version, with distance marks on both sides of the focus ring. The meter version uses metric markings. Choose the scale preferred by the camera crew; the distance-scale choice does not itself change the lens optics.
