The UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G is more powerful than the other Mini models because it has both capture and playback — all over a single Thunderbolt connection. The dedicated 12G-SDI fill and key outputs connect to a production switcher's downstream keyer, which can be muted so video will not key on the switcher until the replay starts. An extra 12G-SDI output is dedicated to monitoring so you always have an active output to set up the next replay clip. The 12G-SDI input is perfect for live monitoring of a switcher multiview — or for rendering broadcast graphics and AI processing over a live video feed, since the UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G is fully bidirectional.

Supports Independent Fill and Key Outputs

With dual 12G-SDI outputs, the UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G connects directly into live production switchers so graphics can be overlaid with full transparency. Internally, there is hardware support for both RGBA and YUVA frame buffers. With RGBA graphics, video frames automatically transcode RGB pixels to YUV 4:2:2:4 on both fill and key outputs at full 10-bit precision.

The two SDI outputs connect to a live production switcher where they are keyed over video. The key output ensures smooth blending of transparent elements — making the UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G ideal for broadcast graphics, lower thirds, and stingers in live sports, news, and entertainment production.

Simultaneous Capture and Playback

The UltraStudio Mini Replay 12G uses the same Desktop Video software driver found in Blackmagic's professional DeckLink capture cards. This driver supports simultaneous real-time bidirectional transfer of video data to and from the computer with extremely low latency. You can capture image data into the computer from the SDI input while at the same time sending processed video back out through the SDI outputs.

This opens up solutions that go well beyond replay. Use your computer as a real-time keyer, generate broadcast graphics over a live input, or apply AI-based processing directly overlaid on live video — all through a single Thunderbolt cable from a device small enough to fit in a jacket pocket.
