AJA FS8 from AJA is a hybrid SDI/IP media processor built to synchronize, convert, route, and color-manage 12G-SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 signals in demanding production systems. Eight independent HD video processors can be assigned across mixed signal paths, with up to four UHD processing channels available when higher raster formats are required. Embedded SDI, ST 2110-30, Dante, and MADI audio feed a 459x448 mono matrix, while PTP, analog reference, and configurable delay controls keep complex systems aligned. It puts a large amount of production glue into a single 1RU chassis.

AJA FS8 12G-SDI ST 2110 media processor for broadcast and remote production
FS8 multi-channel video processing for 4K UHD 2K and HD broadcast conversion
Video Processing

Multi-Channel 4K UHD Video Processing

Multi-channel video processing gives engineers eight independent HD processing paths or as many as four UHD paths when two processors are paired per UHD channel. The hardware toolset covers frame synchronization, up/down/cross-conversion, frame-rate conversion, motion-adaptive deinterlacing, proc amp adjustment, color correction, legalizing, freeze, matte generation, and test patterns. Region of Interest controls add crop, zoom, scale, and horizontal or vertical positioning, while the built-in layering engine can combine two processing paths for more specialized layouts. Broadcast trucks, studios, flypacks, and live venues can normalize mixed sources without dedicating a separate box to every conversion task.

FS8 frame synchronization and timing control for AR sports replay and live signals
Frame Synchronizer

Frame Synchronization and Delay Management

Frame synchronization aligns asynchronous cameras, replay servers, graphics systems, encoders, and other sources to house reference or PTP timing. Horizontal, vertical, and whole-frame adjustments let engineers compensate for latency elsewhere in the chain, with configurable video delay up to 60 frames in HD and 30 frames in UHD. An ultra-low-latency mode operates at less than half of a video frame for workflows such as color processing where response time is critical. The web interface also includes a timing comparator to help evaluate reference-to-output and input-to-output delay without relying on a separate scope for every adjustment.

FS8 HDR WCG color management for SDR HDR live grading and broadcast delivery
HDR WCG Processing

HDR WCG Live Color Management

HDR WCG live color management supports HDR-to-HDR, HDR-to-SDR, and SDR-to-HDR transformation with BT.709 and BT.2020 colorimetry. Each processing channel can independently use included NBCU LUTs, user 3D LUTs, dynamic LUTs, or optional Colorfront and BBC HLG processing. A per-channel proc amp and RGB color corrector help with camera matching and look refinement, while the built-in YUV/RGB legalizer helps keep processed luminance and chroma inside broadcast limits. For single-master production, one source can be routed through multiple processors to create coordinated SDR and HDR deliverables for SDI or ST 2110 destinations.

FS8 node-based web UI for presets routing preview and broadcast automation control
Web UI Control

Node-Based Media Processor Web Control

Node-based media processor control presents each signal path as a visual pipeline with video preview, routing, status, and processing blocks in one browser interface. System, Video Processor, Audio Processor, IP Config, and 3D LUT presets support granular recall, which is useful when the same processing configuration must be deployed across several units. NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 provide discovery, registration, and stream connection management in ST 2110 environments, while Ember+ supports integration with broadcast control systems. A REST API based on an OpenAPI specification gives integrators another route for custom automation and third-party control.

FS8 Dante MADI and ST 2110-30 audio routing for synchronized broadcast production
Broadcast Audio

Dante MADI ST 2110 Audio Processing

Broadcast audio processing is built around a 459x448 mono routing matrix that accepts SDI embedded audio, ST 2110-30, MADI, Dante, mixdown outputs, and tone generators. Input channels receive sample-rate conversion, gain, phase, and as much as 250 ms of delay, while outputs add up to 2.5 seconds of delay for downstream alignment. Four independent 5.1 or 7.1-to-stereo mixdown processors support common delivery requirements without adding another audio appliance. Audio delay can also follow video timing adjustments so picture and sound remain coordinated as processing paths change.

FS8 12G-SDI fiber SFP Dante MADI and redundant power connectivity for facilities
12G-SDI Connectivity

12G-SDI Fiber and IP Facility Connectivity

12G-SDI connectivity starts with eight BNC inputs and eight BNC outputs, while optional SDI SFP modules can expand an all-SDI system to 16x16 I/O and add direct fiber connectivity. Supported fiber SFP options allow single-mode runs up to 10 kilometers without separate fiber converters. Two MADI input and output pairs use HD-BNC, Dante uses primary and secondary Gigabit Ethernet ports, and a dedicated control Ethernet port serves the web UI and out-of-band management. Dual redundant power supplies are included for facilities where signal continuity matters.

SMPTE ST 2110 gateway with ST 2022-7 redundancy for hybrid SDI IP production
SMPTE ST 2110

12G-SDI to ST 2110 Hybrid IP Gateway

A 12G-SDI to ST 2110 hybrid gateway lets a facility synchronize, process, and exchange baseband and uncompressed IP signals inside the same 1RU platform. Four SFP28 cages support 10 or 25 GigE media interfaces for ST 2110-20 video, ST 2110-30 audio, and ST 2110-40 ancillary data, with ST 2022-7 transmit and receive redundancy across paired paths.

Hybrid operating modes combine either the eight BNC SDI inputs and outputs or optional SDI SFP I/O with as many as eight HD or four UHD ST 2110 gateway paths. PTP supplies IP timing, NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 handle discovery and connection management, and the configurable analog reference output can distribute sync derived from system timing to conventional downstream equipment. Media-network SFPs are purchased separately.

Hybrid SDI IP infrastructure workflow for broadcast facility migration to ST 2110
Broadcast Infrastructure

Hybrid SDI IP Facility Migration

A broadcast facility can keep established 12G-SDI routing while introducing ST 2110 in stages. Frame sync, format conversion, HDR processing, ANC handling, audio routing, and SDI/IP gateway functions can share one edge-processing point, reducing the number of single-purpose devices needed during a baseband-to-IP transition.

LED wall low-latency HDR color workflow for stadium concert and corporate displays
LED Wall Production

Low-Latency HDR LED Wall Color Management

Stadiums, concerts, on-set productions, and corporate events can normalize multiple UHD sources before they reach LED image processors. Up to four UHD channels can handle HLG, PQ, SDR, and BT.2020 conversion in one rack unit, while Pomfort Livegrade can drive dynamic LUT updates for responsive look management during the show.

Dynamic 3D LUT live grading workflow for cine-live camera matching and HDR looks
Cine-Live Production

Dynamic 3D LUT Live Grading Workflow

Cine-live teams can upload 33-point user LUTs for repeatable looks or use dynamic LUT updates from compatible third-party color software. That makes it possible to combine frame synchronization, camera matching, live grading, and SDR/HDR conversion at the same processing stage instead of passing through several separate color and timing devices.

Broadcast Engineers

Consolidate frame sync, conversion, timing, audio grooming, and hybrid gateway duties into one dense processor.

Production Trucks

Handle mixed rasters, frame rates, SDR/HDR signals, and SDI/IP interfaces while preserving scarce rack space.

Remote Production
