The Blackmagic Design OpenGear HDMI to SDI Card Module is designed for installation in openGear OG3 frames and new openGear oGx rack frames. OpenGear Converter - HDMI to SDI is ideal for converting from non-copy-protected HDMI devices to SDI out with embedded SDI audio from the HDMI input. It lets you convert HDMI video devices to SDI, or add SDI outputs to computers with HDMI compatibility.

“Brick” style mini converters are very popular for converting and processing video and audio. However, using lots of mini-converters can become cumbersome as they each require their own power supply and each needs to be independently secured to avoid damage to the attached equipment. Rack-based converters solve this problem as a single, rack-mounted frame can hold multiple converter cards securely and power only needs to be supplied to the frame itself.

Blackmagic OpenGear Converters are compatible with 20-card models of the universal 2 RU (rack unit) openGear OG3 frames and new openGear oGx frames.

All Blackmagic OpenGear Converters include the rear modules which means you only need a standard openGear rack frame and don’t need to spend money on rear modules you might not use. The rear modules feature industry-standard BNC connectors for SDI and analog video as well as openGear standard WECO 3-pin block connectors (type 930-HFL) for balanced audio which can be switched between AES/EBU and analog audio.

USB ports are included on some models where a firmware update might be useful in the future. Firmware updates may support new formats and standards or provide increased compatibility with other video and audio hardware. There is no need to switch off the power to the openGear frame before installing a Blackmagic OpenGear Converter. The openGear frames are hot-swappable meaning that cards can be installed or removed while the frame is powered on.

Auto Switching SD and HD
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters instantly switch between all SD and HD video formats the instant the video input changes. A huge range of standards are supported including NTSC, PAL, 1080i/59.94, 1080i/50, 1080PsF/23.98, 1080PsF/24, 720p/59.94, 720p/50 and new formats can be added via USB.

Includes AES/EBU and Analog Audio
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters feature 24-bit analog and 24-bit digital audio. You can select either analog or AES/EBU digital audio via mini switches, or remotely via the DashBoard network control software. Blackmagic OpenGear Converters will then switch to use either analog or AES/EBU digital audio. Blackmagic OpenGear Converters support the standard 2 ch and 4 ch audio rear modules, so they can be used with other brand OpenGear products.

High Quality
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters are built to the highest quality standards with low SDI jitter. You get the longest SDI cable lengths combined with ultra-low noise analog video and audio for a true broadcast quality solution.

Easy to Use
Blackmagic OpenGear Converters are similar, so they're easy to understand. With advanced 1.5Gb/s SDI technology, every card is fully compatible with all your SD and HD equipment, plus you can update new formats via USB. Blackmagic OpenGear Converters can be set up via mini switches, DashBoard, or via USB using Blackmagic Design's Converter Utility. Those are three completely different ways to configure, so you're never stuck in a critical live situation.
