Blackmagic Design Cintel Scanner G3 HDR+

The Blackmagic Design Cintel Scanner G3 HDR+ is a comprehensive realtime film scanning and grading solution that includes precise mechanical film handling components, lenses, a high intensity diffuse light source, and an integrated camera. Precision capstans handle film with greater care than ever before. A 35mm film gate, film spools, a set of four cleaning rollers, desk mount feet, and DaVinci Resolve Studio software are included with the Cintel Scanner. Cintel transmits film directly to DaVinci Resolve, allowing you to edit film rolls back together, color grade scans, reframe them, decrease noise, and extract audio. Because DaVinci Resolve has many more functions than hardware, using it to handle the scanner gives you considerably more creative flexibility than a simple telecine.

Cintel Scanner G3 HDR+'s new high intensity light source is now 6 times more powerful. The RGB LED grid array lighting source consists of a square array of 576 high power LEDs organized in a grid pattern and focussed onto film with the help of a new light cylinder. Because of this architecture, more than double the silicon area for light generation is accessible, resulting in more light being directed towards the film. Each lighting flash contains tens of kilowatts of power to scan a single frame of film. HDR scanning speed is now up to three times faster in Ultra HD at full real-time speed of 30 frames per second. The Cintel Scanner G3 HDR+ also has better color science and up to 3.5 stops more HDR range.

Customers can examine the state of the original film using a new film inspection mode, which allows them to see if there are any scratches or dust. Simply press and hold the pause button to activate this new feature. The light source will be adjusted to focus light in a specific direction. This allows dust and scratches to be noticed immediately. The light source may be entirely controlled in software, giving the customer more control and allowing them to verify the film before scanning.
