SONY HDVF-EL740 Full HD 7.4-inch OLED Viewfinder is a professional OLED viewfinder built for Sony 4K / HD live production, portable camera, and studio camera workflows. From the supplied source, it uses a 7.4-inch 1920 x 1080 color OLED panel and supports camera connection through a round-type 20-pin connector.

This is the kind of viewfinder that makes sense when the operator needs a sharp Full HD picture at the camera position, but also needs flexible signal and power options. The HDVF-EL740 adds 3G-SDI input, DC/Tally input, assignable bezel switches, waveform monitoring, and a lifting mechanism that helps with panning, tilting, and height adjustment.

Why It Helps

This viewfinder is useful when the operator needs a Full HD OLED display that can work directly with Sony camera systems while also accepting an external 3G-SDI source. That flexibility matters on mixed camera rigs, field setups, and production environments where the viewfinder may need to monitor more than the camera’s own signal.

The OLED panel gives a clean 1920 x 1080 image for framing, focus, and picture checks. Boosted Brightness Mode raises the display level up to 700 cd/m², which is helpful outdoors or in brighter production areas where a normal display setting can be harder to read.

The HDVF-EL740 is also practical when the camera setup is not fully cabled through the camera body. The external DC input allows standalone operation, while the tally input supports red tally indication. For rig-based mounting, the 1/4-inch tapped screw hole at the base simplifies attachment without the tilt base assembly.
