SONY .7" OLED VF w/ 3.5" LCD for HDC/PXW is a compact Sony HD viewfinder that combines a 0.7-inch Full HD OLED panel with a 3.5-inch quarter HD sub-LCD display. From the supplied source, it is built for Sony 4K / HD camera systems using a round-type 20-pin camera connector.

This is the kind of viewfinder that makes sense when the camera operator needs a precise OLED eyepiece view, while a camera assistant or operator can also check the larger sub-LCD display. It is useful for Sony HDC system cameras, XDCAM shoulder-type camcorders, and compatible PXW / PDW workflows where focusing, tally, and camera number display need to stay close to the camera.

Why It Helps

This viewfinder is useful when the operator needs an OLED eyepiece for accurate focus and contrast, but the production also benefits from a larger auxiliary display on the camera. The 0.7-inch OLED handles the close operator view, while the 3.5-inch sub-LCD gives another viewing point for direct monitoring.

The OLED panel is helpful for tracking moving subjects and checking dark areas of the picture. High contrast, fast response, Focus Assist, and image magnification give the operator better tools for focus work, especially in 4K / HD production where small focus errors are easier to notice.

The sub-LCD adds practical flexibility on set. It can show tally and camera number information, and the foldable hood helps reduce reflections when shooting outdoors. For multi-camera work, those small details make the viewfinder easier to use around real camera positions.
