UltraStudio 4K Extreme also has the built-in hardware-based real-time H.265 encoder that gives you the function to capture/encode H.265 files. The H.265 is the compression standard for distributing Ultra HD content online. With that capability, this product is the right solution for the real time-based encoding of Ultra HD to files for online content distribution. Codec formats that are supported such as Apple ProRes 422 Proxy to the advanced quality of 12-bit ProRes 4444 XQ files for best compositing and color grading.
From the construction and design consideration, this UltraStudio 4K Extreme has an attractive machined aluminum front panel with the integrated color display as well as buttons for a faster way in selecting input sources for audio, video, deck control, or even timecode. On the rear panel, there are some connections ports such as video and audio connections as well as the 12G-SDI, HDMI 2.0, composite, and analog component, AES/EBU digital audio, and balanced XLR. In addition, there are more connections: dual power supplies, RS-422 deck control inputs, and the optical fiber expansion cages.
In details for the capture and playback functionality, this UltraStudio 4K Extreme capable of handling files in Ultra HD in YUV at 60 frames per second, Ultra HD as well as 4K RGB video at 30 frames per second via the advanced 12G-SDI video connections. The Thunderbolt loop through allows the connection, up to 6 devices, as such you can connect the fast disk arrays for big video storage with the Thunderbolt connection to the computer.
