NDI|HX Mode Selection
The NDI|HX live video source capability is an operation mode in addition to the camcorder's existing output formats. The upgrade adds the NDI|HX mode to the camcorder's Recording Format System menu. When NDI|HX is selected, the camera operates simply as a live video source (Note: In NDI®|HX mode, the camera does not record). The NDI|HX mode supports automatic camera discovery on the LAN via supported hardware and software, tally support, and IP remote control.
1" CMOS 4K Image Sensor
The GY-HC500 has a 1-inch CMOS 4K image sensor for uncompromising filmmaking and videography. This big sensor's great dynamic range, high S/N ratio, and high sensitivity (F11 at 2000lx) contribute to artistic visual expression, including 'bokeh' potential for narrow depth of field.
20x Optical & 40x Dynamic Zoom Lens
The GY-HC500 is equipped with a newly built 20x optical zoom lens with wide-angle optics to provide optimal magnification for photography. Dynamic Zoom uses optical zoom and pixel mapping from a 4K image sensor to deliver a seamless and lossless 40x magnification when recording in HD mode. Gain complete control of the scene with the three big rings for zoom, focus, and iris, allowing for fluid photography. Additional features include optical picture stabilization and correction for chromatic aberration.
The GY-Auto HC500's Focus and Focus Assist capabilities provide highly precise and stable focusing, which is crucial for 4K shooting. In addition, its extensive customizability allows it to operate well in a range of shooting scenarios.
HDR via HLG/J-Log 1
The GY-HC500 features HDR-compatible HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) and JVC's proprietary J-Log 1 Gamma modes. These components provide high dynamic range capture of a broad color spectrum with 10-bit recording for improved color grading and the elimination of banding. When watched on HLG-compatible monitors, footage captured in HLG mode will give a full HDR image. The J-Log 1 mode offers a large dynamic range and a wide dynamic range of 800%. On location, it is possible to record while checking the image on the LCD screen or viewfinder of the GY-HC500 to determine the final output. The GY-HC500 supports HLG recording, enabling a straightforward HDR workflow without the need for color grading. Images are more realistic and bright when highlights and shadows are not trimmed. BT.2020, which gives a larger color gamut, is supported as well.
4K UHD 60p/50p Apple ProRes 422 10-bit Recording
The GY-HC500 records in Apple ProRes 422 for the creation of captivating 4K 60p/50p video. Apple ProRes 422 HQ provides near-lossless intra-frame compression, which accelerates post-production. Video is captured in native file formats that are understood without transcoding by the majority of major editing software. This facilitates an efficient editing and post-processing procedure. The 4:2:2 format provides richer color information, and 10-bit recording provides richer gradations, which is a distinct advantage for post-recording grading work.
SSD Enables Extended Time 4K UHD 60p/50p Shooting
Compatible with commercially accessible, high-capacity SSDs (SATA M.2 SSD Type2280), extended-duration 4K UHD/HD up to 60p/50p video recording is feasible. Just connect it to the camera's expanded slot (using the optional SSD adapter KA-MC100G). Solid-state drives (SSDs) provide great sequential read speeds for professional applications. It is possible to transfer vast quantities of recorded footage at high speeds.
IP Remote Control with Viewing
When the camera is IP-connected, critical camera operations can be remotely controlled from a tablet, smartphone, or computer anywhere in the world via wireless or wired LAN. The functionalities of the remote control include lens and camera settings, registering zoom presets, and IP connection settings.
IP can be used to upload video clips to an FTP server. The Auto FTP option enables you to upload a recorded clip without accessing the menu.
Network Time Protocol
Network Time Protocol enables the synchronization of many cameras when used with the KM-IP6000/KM-IP4100 CONNECTED CAM switchers. NTP, as opposed to traditional sync cables, is used to synchronize cameras for live production and home switching.
Return over IP
The individual in front of the camera can conduct a two-way interview with return video and audio while streaming live to air across an IP network. This enables reporters to wirelessly receive instructions from the station and camera operators to modify framing based on instructions from a different location. Multi-camera applications are supported as well.
