Fremont, California, United States of America - Thursday, July 29, 2021 - Blackmagic Design today announced a new line of live production cameras called the Blackmagic Studio Cameras. The new compact all-in-one design will benefit a broader range of live production customers who require professional-grade cameras that are also easy to set up on location. The new Blackmagic Studio Cameras feature a carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate body and a large integrated 7-inch display "They lack viewfinders, making them significantly lighter and easier to transport and set up than large traditional studio cameras.

Blackmagic Studio Cameras combine the functionality of large studio cameras with a compact and portable design. Additionally, due to the dynamic range and color science of digital film cameras, they are capable of handling extremely difficult lighting conditions while producing cinematic-looking images. The sensor has an ISO range of up to 25,600, allowing customers to create stunning images even in dimly lit environments. Talkback, tally, camera control, integrated color corrector, Blackmagic RAW recording to USB disks, and much more are advanced features.

While the Blackmagic Studio Camera is intended for use with a live switcher, it is not limited to that use. That's because it records Blackmagic RAW to USB disks, allowing it to be used in any situation where customers will be using a tripod. The sizable seven "It's ideal for work such as chat shows, television production, broadcast news, sports, education, conference presentations, and even weddings due to the viewfinder. The large bright display, combined with the side handles, touch screen, and physical controls, makes tracking shots simple while remaining comfortable to use for extended periods of time.

Large broadcasters employ costly studio cameras that are extremely large and therefore impractical to transport. It is made of lightweight carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate and incorporates cutting-edge technology in a compact design. The camera is designed for live production, making it simple to track and frame shots thanks to its large 7-inch LCD display "see-through. There are menus for camera settings on the touchscreen, as well as knobs for brightness, contrast, and focus peaking. Additionally, a tripod mount equipped with a mounting plate is included for quick setup.

With gain ranging from -12dB (100 ISO) to +36dB (25,600 ISO), the Blackmagic Studio Camera is optimized to reduce grain and noise in images while maintaining the sensor's full dynamic range. Gain can be adjusted directly on the camera or remotely via SDI or Ethernet remote camera control from a switcher.

Customers get the same imaging technology found in digital film cameras thanks to the incredible 4K sensor and Blackmagic generation 5 color science. Additionally, the color corrector can be controlled via the switcher. With a dynamic range of 13 stops, the camera produces darker blacks and brighter whites, which is ideal for color correction. The sensor has a resolution of 4096 x 2160 pixels, making it ideal for HD and Ultra HD work. Additionally, all models support frame rates ranging from 23.98 fps to 60 fps.

Blackmagic Studio Cameras are compatible with a wide variety of affordable photographic lenses thanks to the popular MFT lens mount. Because they are designed for use in high-resolution photography, photographic lenses are of exceptional quality. To eliminate the need to reach around the lens to adjust the zoom and focus, the optional focus and zoom demands allow customers to adjust the lens directly from the tripod handles, just as they would with a large studio camera. It provides the same tactile sensation as an expensive B4 broadcast lens.

The sizable seven "Because the high resolution screen is large enough to make framing shots much easier, it will completely transform how customers interact with the camera. Overlays on the screen display status and recording parameters, histograms, focus peaking indicators, levels, and frame guides, among other things. Additionally, customers can apply 3D LUTs to monitor shots to achieve the desired color and look.

In comparison to consumer cameras, the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro model features SDI connections with talkback that enable the switcher operator to communicate with the cameras during live events. This means the director can communicate with the camera operators to direct shot selection, avoiding the situation in which all cameras capture the same shot at the same time. The talkback connector is integrated into the camera's side and is compatible with standard 5 pin XLR broadcast headsets.

Blackmagic Studio cameras feature an abundance of connectivity options for connecting to consumer and broadcast equipment. All models include HDMI connectivity with tally, camera control, and record trigger, making them ideal for use with ATEM Mini switchers. Additionally, customers receive headphone and microphone connections, as well as two USB-C expansion ports. The advanced Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro model has 12G-SDI, 10GBASE-T Ethernet, talkback, and balanced XLR audio inputs. Due to the fact that 10G Ethernet enables all video, tally, talkback, and camera power to be transmitted over a single connection, setup is significantly faster. That is identical to an SMPTE fiber workflow, but using standard Category 6A copper Ethernet cable, which is significantly less expensive.

Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro enables the connection of multiple cameras via a single Ethernet cable. Traditional broadcast studio cameras communicate and power themselves via SMPTE fiber, but SMPTE fiber is prohibitively expensive. The Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro model uses 10G Ethernet instead of SMPTE fiber, making it significantly less expensive. The Ethernet connection provides access to all camera video, program return feeds, tally, talkback, and camera control functions, as well as power. At the switcher end, the Blackmagic Studio Converter performs all video conversions and also supplies power to the Ethernet cable. This eliminates the need for customers to connect power to the camera.

The Blackmagic Studio Camera includes a high-speed USB-C expansion port for recording to external disks or connecting to a variety of accessories. By connecting an external USB flash drive, the camera can record high-resolution 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files for subsequent editing and color correction. This means that customers can simply transfer the disk to a computer and begin working without having to waste time copying files. Additionally, the USB port charges any phone or disk that is plugged in.

Certain file formats, such as H.264, are highly compressed, introducing noise and artifacts and obliterating sensor detail. Blackmagic RAW resolves this issue, ensuring that customers continue to receive stunning images with incredible detail and vibrant color throughout the post production pipeline. Additionally, Blackmagic RAW saves camera settings as metadata, allowing customers to adjust the ISO, white balance, and exposure in DaVinci Resolve later. Additionally, because the files are small and fast, editing is incredibly responsive.

Blackmagic Studio Cameras include built-in microphones, which integrate sound into the design and speed up setup. Additionally, the built-in microphones are shock and wind-resistant, ensuring that customers receive excellent sound even in adverse conditions. Additionally, there is a 3.5mm audio input for video camera microphones and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Because microphones are frequently placed near cameras, the Pro model includes the best audio ever built into a studio camera. The balanced XLR inputs on the professional two-channel mixer support +24 dBu line level and feature an ultra-low noise microphone preamplifier with P48 phantom power and an equivalent input noise (E.I.N.) of -131 dBV (A). This is followed by two analogs to digital converters with a dynamic range of 117 dB, ensuring that customers receive the high-end audio demanded by broadcasters and audio engineers. This means that any microphone connected to the XLR inputs will produce more noise than the audio from the camera.

To facilitate tripod mounting and setup, all Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K models include a machined metal tripod mount with a quick mounting plate. The quick mounting plate allows the camera to slide onto the tripod, and customers receive forward and rear camera adjustment, allowing them to fine-tune the camera's position for optimal camera balance.

Blackmagic Studio Cameras offer a variety of power options. Each model features a universal 12V DC locking power connector to prevent the cable from being accidentally pulled out. However, if users connect the Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K Pro model via a single Ethernet cable, the entire camera and its accessories can be powered via the Ethernet connection. The Blackmagic Studio Converter features a large power supply that adds PoE power to the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for customers to connect the camera to a power source. That is an excellent solution when there is no power available at the location of the cameras.

With the addition of optional zoom and focus requirements, affordable photography lenses can be transformed into incredible broadcast lenses. The focus and zoom demands are connected via USB-C, ensuring compatibility with all Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K models. Each zoom and focus demand features two USB-C ports, allowing customers to daisy chain them together and connect to the camera via a single USB cable. Customers benefit from extremely precise lens control, as well as the ability to frame and adjust the lens without taking their hands off the tripod handles.

On the Pro model, customers can connect all signals to the camera via a single Ethernet IP link. That is, the camera feed, the return program feed, the timecode, the reference, the tally, the talkback, and the control are all transmitted over the same cable. That is equivalent to the benefits of SMPTE fiber, but the standard 10G copper Ethernet cable is significantly less expensive. At the studio end, the Blackmagic Studio Converter enables the separation of all video, audio, and talkback connections. Additionally, it includes a massive power supply that powers the camera via the Ethernet cable, eliminating the need for customers to have a power source close to the camera.
