Fremont, CA - Monday, April 3, 2023 - Blackmagic Design has introduced three new models of its Blackmagic Videohub 12G zero-latency video routers, which allow users to connect and route any combination of SD, HD, and Ultra HD simultaneously on the same router. Models of Blackmagic Videohub 12G include a front panel with shortcut buttons, an LCD that can display labels or live video, and a metal spin knob for browsing video sources.
Blackmagic Videohub 12G eliminates cable clutter because customers can connect their SDI equipment directly to the router and then establish electronic connections. Customers can connect any video input to any video output, or even a single video input to multiple video outputs, eliminating the need for complex system diagrams. This indicates that monitors can display any source within the studio. Customers receive complete adaptability to constant change and even emergencies. Customers can utilize multiple HyperDeck recorders for redundant mastering. Alternatively, clients may route video to multiple streaming processors for all broadcast platforms. Blackmagic Videohub 12G can also be used to add additional inputs to an ATEM switcher.
The built-in front control panel allows customers to route video, making it the ideal solution for live production racks that lack room for additional hardware panels. The front panel resembles a Videohub Master Control Pro and includes a spin knob for navigation, direct entry buttons for speed, and an LCD for label display. Nevertheless, because the panel is integrated into the router, customers can view live video on the LCD. The LCD also has menus that allow users to modify router settings.
With an integrated LCD, Blackmagic Videohub 12G can display live video of all router inputs to customers. Customers are able to view all router inputs as live video prior to changing a route. Additionally, labels are displayed beneath the live video to help customers easily identify the input they are viewing. This means that customers can scroll up and down the router sources in alphabetical order and view each input as live video, regardless of the video standards of the inputs. Imagine scrolling through their connections on the LCD while viewing them as live video. Additionally, in portable equipment racks with limited space, visual routing allows customers to view video inputs without requiring an external SDI monitor.
All models of the Blackmagic Videohub 12G feature advanced 12G-SDI connections that support any SD, HD, or Ultra HD video format up to 2160p60 and are compatible with SD, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, 6G-SDI, and 12G-SDI equipment. In addition, Blackmagic Videohub 12G supports routing any video standard simultaneously on the same router. On the 40x40 model, customers can route up to forty distinct video standards simultaneously. 12G-SDI provides Ultra HD with a high frame rate via a single BNC connection that is compatible with all HD equipment. 12G-SDI provides customers with a future-proof technology that is compatible with their current and future equipment.
Videohub has SDI re-clocking built into every 12G-SDI input. SDI re-clocking regenerates the video signal to ensure the highest possible video quality. This is crucial because longer video cables degrade the signal quality. Expensive premium "digital" cables can mitigate signal integrity loss caused by longer cable lengths, but cannot eliminate it entirely. With SDI re-clocking, all SDI devices in their studio receive a signal with enhanced jitter performance that has been regenerated. This means longer cable lengths and no video interruptions.
All Blackmagic Videohub routers are remote-controllable, which is essential in large broadcast studios where the equipment connected to the router is spread throughout the building. Two distinct types of hardware panels are available. The Videohub Master Control Pro has a spin knob, LCD, and shortcut buttons, similar to the front panel. While the Videohub Smart Control Pro model has all buttons and is typically programmed so that the panel controls a single router output with each button assigned to a router input, the standard Videohub Smart Control model lacks any buttons. Then, customers can simply cut along the panel buttons to instantly alter the router output. Customers achieve the best results by installing a smart panel beneath each video monitor.
