The Hi5-3D Dual HD-SDI to 3D Multiplexer by AJA, is a video multiplexer that blends and synchronizes two HD-SDI inputs into numerous multiplexed 3D formats for output over HDMI and HD-SDI. The Hi5-3D embedded audio is supported in the HDMI output, which allows a single cable video and audio connection. This model offers dual-channel RCA audio outputs for independent audio monitoring if is required. Moreover, it provides a looping SD/HD-SDI output. This is useful for connecting additional apparatus, or for daisy chaining multiple monitors to the same source.
The 3D Modes Supported
The Hi5-3D Mini-Converter supports depending on the type of video format, which includes "side-by-side", "frame-packing “and "top-bottom" 3D modes. The "side-by-side" and "top-bottom" modes involve compressing, either vertically or horizontally, each input for combining into a single video stream at the same rate of the inputs. Lastly, the "frame-packing" mode stacks two full resolution inputs into a "tall" frame (at twice the clock and line rates). When selected, "frame-packing" can only be used with 23.98 or 24 input frame rates.
The user Control
The Hi5-3D offers a DIP switch control and a host control via the Mini-Config application. One of the DIP switches is a "Local/Remote" switch. When in the "Local" mode, the remaining DIP switches support a subset of the user controls. When in the "Remote" mode, AJA's Mini-Config application controls the unit. The last configuration is held in memory on the Hi5-3D for use when disconnected.
Format Support
The Hi5-3D support 2D and 3D inputs. When in the 2D mode, the input is simply passed to the output unmodified. In the 3D mode, the Hi5-3D supports the minimum required 3D modes as defined by the CEA for HDMI 1.4a televisions.

**Notes**
"PsF" inputs are converted to "p" for HDMI output. The SDI output can support S/S and T/B formats only. Future software versions may add other formats.
