The AJA ColorBox HDR/SDR Color Converter was created to particularly address the conversion requirements of broadcast, live events, and on-set applications. It is a small, high-performance converter for color controlled workflows. With a special color processing pipeline, it uses 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 enabling single wire 4K/UltraHD HDR up to 4:2:2 10-bit 60p or 4:4:4 12-bit 30p while supporting Standard Dynamic Range (SDR), High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Wide Color Gamut (WCG) data.
AJA Color Pipeline offers additional 4x 1D LUTs and 2x 3x3 matrices that are each separately adjustable even as Proc Amps or RGB Color Correctors. It is built around the 33-point 3D LUT processor with tetrahedral interpolation. Manage color processing choices with ease using the web interface, which may be accessed via a wired Ethernet connection or from a wireless connection using a USB WiFi adapter from a third party.
A strong AJA Color Pipeline and processing pipeline options from Colorfront and NBCU LUTs are both included in ColorBox. By providing licensable upgrade options for sophisticated color management processes, such as BBC HLG LUTs and the brand-new ORION-CONVERT engine, ColorBox also broadens its potential. Higher precision results are produced via ORION-original CONVERT's real-time floating point math method to color transforms in order to gain "access to the colors between the colors." This makes it possible to perform round-tripping and pixel-perfect color transformations, where keeping colors is crucial.
As additional tools for your workflow, ColorBox provides a comprehensive test pattern generator and frame store. These tools include the capacity to capture up to a 4K image as a 16-bit.tiff file for the best reference stills. Even more information, including useful user-definable text fields, can be overlaid over the image via ColorBox. These photos can be saved locally on ColorBox or onto a connected PC belonging to a third party and running programs like Pomfort's Livegrade Pro/Studio and Assimilate Live Looks.
