The following outlines Core Microsystems
warranty, technical support, repair, return, and pricing policies:
Warranty Core workstations carry a one-year labor and
parts warranty on hardware manufactured and assembled by Core
Microsystems including all components originally shipped in
the computer chassis, the keyboard, mouse, monitor, and speakers.
Extended warranty plans are also available. Please contact one
of our sales representatives for pricing. Warranty covers the
original Customer and is not transferable. Any claims under
this warranty are non-transferable, and products returned under
warranty support must be received at Core before the one-year
warranty period has expired. Please note that this warranty
does not cover systems manufactured by third parties such as
Canopus and Leitch; these are covered by the third-party
system manufacturers. Check with a Core sales representative
for details on specific systems. During the warranty period,
Core will, at its sole discretion repair or replace any covered
part that is determined by Core to be defective in materials
or workmanship. Core Microsystems reserves the right to substitute
functionally equivalent new or serviceable used parts. Core's
responsibility is limited to repair or replacement, which may
be chosen by Core at its sole discretion. Exclusions:
Core warranty programs do not cover the following items; the
Customer may be charged for services related to correcting them
at Core's current labor rate:
- Failure of hardware not provided by Core Microsystems
- System failure or malfunction due to Customer-installed
hardware or software
- Damage caused by accidents, misuse, excessive dust and
heat, overclocking, etc.
- Software malfunction, software bugs, file corruption,
and software virus
- Loss of Customer data
- Damage caused during shipments to Core Microsystems
Technical Support Core Microsystems provides hardware/operating
system technical support for 90 days from the date of purchase
via telephone during regular office hours. This 90-day support
may be extended for an additional fee. Please contact one of
our sales representatives for pricing. Technical support is
available for questions regarding the installation and configuration
of all hardware components sold by Core Microsystems to the
original customer for the original system. Technical support
includes such items as system crashes, faulty components, missing
software or hardware or system malfunction. The technical support
does not cover software troubleshooting and training. Core only
supports hardware components under the operating systems that
were originally sold by Core. If additions and/or upgrades made
to the systems by anyone other than a Core-authorized party
are found to be the cause of technical problems, the Customer
will be responsible for the costs of labor and parts associated
with those issues. If technical support is requested for troubleshooting
such issues, the Customer will be required to provide a valid
credit card for the related charges.
Warranty Repair Procedures Before returning any products
to Core for warranty service, the Customer must first obtain
a return material authorization number (RMA#) from Core's Technical
Support Department. RMA numbers are valid for ten (10) business
days from the date of issuance. Core must receive returns within
that time. After ten days, a new RMA# must be obtained. At times,
cross shipping may be necessary in time-sensitive situations.
Cross shipping involves Core Microsystems and the Customer simultaneously
shipping replacement and defective parts. To request a cross
shipment (i.e. pre-replacement of parts), the Customer must
obtain a cross shipment number (CSN#). To obtain an RMA or CSN
number, the Customer must provide Core with a valid credit card
number to cover the price of the part at the time the Customer
obtains the RMA or CSN number. Core will process this charge
only if the Customer fails to return the defective part at the
Customer's expense within ten (10) business days from the date
the Customer obtained the RMA or CSN number. Replacement parts
will be shipped to the Customer at Core's expense via Federal
Express ground or equivalent delivery service after the Customer
has obtained a CSN number. Expedited delivery service may be
available at an additional charge to the Customer. Products
must be shipped to Core in the original packaging, shipping
prepaid and insured by the Customer, with the RMA or CSN number
clearly identified on the shipping label. Any replacement products
shall become the property of Core. If Core determines that failure
of the product(s) was not a result of defect in materials or
workmanship, Core reserves the right to charge the Customer
for parts and labor at Core's current labor rate as well as
shipping charges. Core is not responsible for lost data due
to hardware failure or software bugs.
Prices Quotations: Unless otherwise stated,
all prices quoted by Core are based on U.S. dollars FOB shipping
point, including domestic packaging, and are subject to change.
Transportation and Insurance: Transportation and insurance
shall be provided by common carrier, at Customer's risk and
expense with the charges therefore added to the quoted price.
Taxes Any sales, use or manufacturer's tax, which may
be imposed upon the sale or use of goods, or any property tax
levied after readiness to ship, or any excise tax, license or
similar fee required under this transaction including customs
and duty, shall be paid by the Customer in addition to the quoted
prices. If the Customer is exempt from any taxes, the Customer
shall furnish a tax exemption certificate acceptable to the
taxing authority. Sales tax is based on current State of California
tax rates for Santa Clara County.
Terms of Payment Unless otherwise agreed in advance,
full payment must be received by Core prior to delivery of goods.
All charges are payable in U.S. dollars.
Delivery, Risk of Loss & Shipment Delivery Date
: Delivery schedules are approximate only and are based on conditions
at the time of acceptance of Customer's order. Risk of Loss:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, delivery shall be complete
upon transfer of possession to common carrier, FOB shipping
point, whereupon all risk of loss, damage or destruction to
the goods shall pass to the Customer. Shipment: In the
absence of a written agreement to the contrary, the means of
shipment will be at the discretion of Core.
Changes & Cancellations Orders accepted by Core
are not subject to change or cancellation by the Customer except
with Core's written consent. In the event of change or cancellation
of an order for any reason, and without limiting any other remedy
which Core may have as a result of such change or cancellation
under the Uniform Commercial Code then in effect in the state
in which Core is located, the Customer shall pay Core a 25%
cancellation fee to cover the cost of loss incurred by Core.
Return Policy Approval must be obtained from Core
prior to the return of any goods. In the case of incorrect
shipment or goods that are damaged during shipment, Core must
be informed in writing within 24 hours after the receipt of
goods. The Customer may return the system for a refund (less
a 25% restocking fee) if the Customer is not satisfied with
the system within 15 days from the date of shipment. Software
and peripherals are nonrefundable. All of the following
requirements must be met to process a refund:
- Customer must call and receive a valid Return Material
Authorization number (RMA#)
- All original boxes, software and manuals must be returned
in good condition
- All equipment must be in the original condition and unmodified
- Systems must be shipped to Core in original packaging,
shipping prepaid and insured by the Customer, with the RMA
number clearly identified on the shipping label.
- Systems returned for refund must be received at Core
Microsystems' warehouse in Santa Clara, CA within 15 days from
the original ship date. A refund is only issued for the
sale amount and does not include freight. All sales on special
orders, peripherals, and software items are final and not
subject to refund.
Limitations of Liability In no event shall Core Microsystems
be liable for any loss of use, revenue, profit, or for any direct,
indirect, consequential or punitive damages arising out of or
connected with, or resulting from the sale or use of the goods
furnished hereunder.
