Grass Valley T2 iDDR with 4X320GB RAID-10

Intelligent Digital Disk Recorder

The Grass Valley T2 iDDR with 4X320GB RAID-10 is a next-generation intelligent digital disk recorder (iDDR) that combines advanced nonlinear features (direct, frame-accurate access to content), with VTR-like controls.

The T2 iDDR is a complete and self-contained SD and HD audio/ video playout center which delivers superb image quality, versatility, and usability. It has two playback channels and one record channel, all simultaneously and independently available, supporting full 1920x1080 (60/50/24) resolution, as well as 720p and 480i formats.

The two playout channels can be used for independent playout, editing, previewing, or for delivering content to two different display systems simultaneously. The T2 iDDR has also been engineered to seamlessly integrate with Grass Valley EDIUS nonlinear editing software.

Extensive Interfaces
The T2 iDDR features all of the I/Os needed for both professional and broadcast environments, including analog (composite, component, and XLR) and digital (SD/HD-SDI, DVI-I, and AES/EBU) video and audio interfaces for each channel.

All content is encoded using the Grass Valley HQ codec, a intraframe-based, 4:2:2 color space, high-quality, and extreamly flexible encoding format.

The T2 iDDR also has a wide variety of control protocols. Starting with an RS-422 (BVW) port for each channel, T2 also supports AMP through Ethernet and GPI triggering.

File-based Workflow
Featuring extensive rear-panel audio/video connectivity, the T2 iDDR can exchange content at high speed over a network or via removable media, such as HDD through USB, FireWire (IEEE 1394), DVD drive, or the dedicated 2.5-inch HDD/SSD slot.

The T2 iDDR also accepts media from other applications, including HQ AVI, MPEG-2, QuickTime (ProRes422, DVCPROHD, H.264), Windows Media Video HD, and still picture files and sequences.

With new T2 Codec Options such as the T2 PRO Option, the T2 iDDR now accepts broadcast MXF format files, along with the ability to directly playout from P2 or XDCAM drives connected via USB.

The latest free Service Pack (SP3) adds the ability to export files from the T2 iDDR in MXF (XDCAM) format, for better interoperability with third-party applications.

Ease of Use
The first thing you'll notice when looking at the T2iDDR is its crisp, clear 7-inch wide (the industry's largest) touchscreen LCD front panel, which can display high-quality images and is complemented by a software application suite for managing and selecting media clips, clip editing and trimming, and playout-including playlist creation.

The intuitive front panel interface allows functions to be easily found and used. For example, to synchronize the two playout channels, all you have to do is tap on the "3D/Sync mode" button... that's all.

The T2 iDDR also supports automatic up/downconversion. By selecting the output resolution and frame rate of each channel, whatever content is loaded into the player or playlist will be converted on the fly to the selected resolution.
