Avid VideoRAID RTR320 - 2.5TB (2TB usable) disk arrays: high-capacity ATA-based Ultra320 SCSI storage solutions for Avid film and video editing systems. Avid VideoRAID systems combine real-time performance, cost-effective ATA drive technology, and the security of fail-safe data protection in the event of a disk drive failure.
Affordable Avid VideoRAID disk arrays support a wide range of Avid editing systems and software via industry-standard Ultra320 SCSI, while providing the protection of parity Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks (RAID) technology. High-performance Multi-Stream Technology handles multiple streams of uncompressed SD and HD media with ease. Raw capacity ranges from 1.25 TB to a massive 10 TB per editing system.
- Protects valuable content and maximizes productivity. In the event of a disk drive failure, Avid VideoRAID disk arrays continue to operate without loss of data and at full performance. Unlike other RAID solutions that may be unusable during a drive rebuild, Avid VideoRAID maintains full performance while rebuilding in the background.
- Engineered for the pace of digital content creation. Ultra320 SCSI bandwidth and innovative striping technology ensure real-time playback of up to two streams of 1:1 HD, supported on as few as ten drives.
- Affordable RAID technology. Utilizes high-capacity, cost-effective ATA drives for large amounts of protected storage at a low cost per gigabyte.
- Optimized for Avid video editing systems. Avid VideoRAID disk arrays are fully tested and configured for guaranteed performance and reliability for Avid customers.
Avid VideoRAID Features
| Feature |
Fail-safe protection of content |
Benefit |
Real-time parity RAID goes beyond conventional RAID protection for even greater peace of mind. With Avid VideoRAID, a disk drive failure is not a catastrophic event. The system will continue to operate without data loss and at full performance should a drive fail within the unit. This enables the completion of work in progress without requiring immediate drive replacement. |
| Feature |
Full performance during drive rebuild |
Benefit |
If an Avid VideoRAID drive failure does occur, simply swap out the bad drive module and the array will automatically begin a background reconstruction. Costly downtime is eliminated since the system is fully functional (at full performance) during the rebuild process. Once the rebuild is completed, Avid VideoRAID resumes full content protection. A RAID 5 solution, in contrast, may be completely unusable during a drive rebuild, resulting in unproductive downtime. |
| Feature |
Ultra320 SCSI bandwidth and innovative Multi-Stream Technology (MST) |
Benefit |
Interface rates of up to 320 MB/s per channel ensure that Avid VideoRAID arrays meet the performance requirements of film, video, and broadcast production. The exclusive MST functionality uses a sophisticated stream-handling algorithm that works with the system’s on-board RAID controller(s) to support the simultaneous real-time playback of multiple streams of uncompressed SD and HD video. |
| Feature |
Configuration flexibility |
Benefit |
With a choice of drive capacity, 5- or 10-drive array models, and up to four RTR320 or two RTR320X arrays supported per CPU, customers can configure their system to meet their unique needs. Supported raw capacities range from 1.25 TB to 10 TB on an Avid-qualified HP xw8200 or Macintosh G5 CPU. |
| Feature |
Redundant power supplies (RTR320X model) |
Benefit |
Robust, load-sharing power supplies offer added protection and reduce the stress on an individual supply. The array can operate without interruption on only one power supply, if required. Removable for easy service. |
| Feature |
Removable controllers, drives, and power supplies |
Benefit |
Field-replaceable components can be easily removed, making service a snap and maximizing uptime. Quick job changes can be made by simply swapping drive modules. |
| Feature |
Optimized for use with Avid editing systems and software |
Benefit |
Rigorously tested with Avid editing systems and software for guaranteed configuration support. Optimized performance and reliability maximizes productive time in the field. |
| Feature |
Outstanding warranty policy |
Benefit |
A three-year warranty on the drive mechanisms and the enclosure offer added security. To minimize downtime, during the warranty period replacements parts are supplied in advance and at no additional cost. |
